Happy Halloween: Is Your HVAC System Treating You or Tricking You?

Time to string up the cobwebs, carve the pumpkins, and stock up on candy, because Halloween is right around the corner!

At Mitsubishi Electric, we think aging furnaces are some of the scariest things that go bump in the night. They’re old, creaky, and sometimes they seem to have a mind of their own… but the most terrifying things about using an old furnace to keep your house warm during the colder months? Inefficiency, poor performance and emissions. Thanks to the electrification trend, in the near future, fuel-burning furnaces will be the subject of scary ghost stories around the campfire.

If you’re feeling the hair on your arms and neck stand up due to uneasy chilly drafts, or temperature swings, it's either ghosts, or your HVAC system needs an upgrade. Fortunately, fearless home comfort is possible with Mitsubishi Electric!

Here are three reasons a new heat pump will sweeten up your fall and winter like your favorite Halloween candy.

  1. Energy-efficient and All-electric

With an all-climate, variable-capacity heat pump from Mitsubishi Electric, you can save energy and maximize savings by creating customized comfort zones in your home. This approach is ideal if you like to keep different rooms and areas at distinct temperatures based on occupancy, usage and the time of day. Our systems are flexible and scalable, meaning you can have as many or as few separate zones as you want.

With our special heat pump technologies, units use the exact amount of energy needed to heat or cool an area, making our systems up to 40 percent more efficient than traditional alternatives. Also, since your variable-capacity heat pump is all-electric, you can breathe easier knowing you’ve improved your home’s sustainability.

  1. Leading Technology

Our advanced controls, smart home integration capabilities and next-gen technologies work together to deliver ultimate comfort in your home. Some examples of the industry-leading innovations used in our systems:

  • INVERTER-driven compressors improve efficiency
  • 3D i-see Sensor®, available on some of our indoor units, maintains your precise desired temperature by scanning a room’s thermal profile and adjusting accordingly.
  • Removable, easy-to-clean filters improve indoor environmental quality by capturing odors, allergens, bacteria and other contaminants.
  • Hyper-Heat (H2i®) technology allows your family to maintain comfort inside even in cold climates, operating at 100 percent of rated capacity in temperatures as low as 5° F.
  • kumo cloud®, our mobile app, allows you to control your home’s comfort from anywhere.
  1. Energy Rebates

Installing one of our all-electric, variable-capacity heat pumps can earn you extra money through energy rebates. These rebates come in many forms.

The recently passed Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA) includes unprecedented energy efficiency improvement incentives for homeowners like you. Per the bill’s High Efficiency Electric Home Rebate Program (HEEHRP), households making up to 80 percent of the local median income are eligible to receive a 100 percent rebate of up to $8,000 on the cost of heat pump installation. Moderate-income households (making 80-150 percent of the local median) are eligible for a 50 percent rebate up to the same limits. Other incentives include the HOMES Rebate Program (between $2,000 and $8,000 for energy-reducing homes) and the Energy Efficient Home Improvement (25C) Tax Credit.

The IRA is getting a lot of buzz, but many other rebates are available through local incentives and utilities. Find out what you’re eligible for using our rebate finder tool.

“Spooky season” may be here, but your HVAC system shouldn’t be keeping you up at night. There are plenty of reasons to treat yourself with a new variable-capacity heat pump system! Learn more about benefits and system options at MitsubishiComfort.com.
